Pay for your ride
The fare is charged automatically when the ride ends. What to do when a payment fails, and why an unpaid fare stops the next booking.
There is nothing to do at the end of a normal ride. When the driver ends the trip, the app takes the fare: GuyWay Credit first, then your default payment method.
Before you start. Have a payment method in the Wallet, or GuyWay Credit that covers the whole fare. See Payment methods.
When a payment fails
- Open the ride. The row reads Payment didn't go through, with the reason.
- To use another method, open Wallet and tap it to make it the default.
- Back on the ride, tap Fix it. With no method on file, the button reads Add a card.
A ride paid with MMG shows Fare due and a Pay button. Tap it and approve the payment in MMG.
Money owed from an earlier ride
If a fare is still unpaid 10 minutes after the ride, or a cancellation or no-show fee is open, the Home screen and the Wallet show You have GYD ... unpaid. Tap Pay now. On the booking screen the button reads Pay GYD ... to book until it is paid. A ride on your company's profile can still be booked.
Adding or choosing a new method tries the amount owed again by itself.
A booked ride and a declined card
For a ride booked ahead, the card is checked shortly before the pickup. If it is refused, the ride screen shows Your card was declined and no driver is sent. Tap Update payment and add or choose another method. The terms explain what happens if nothing is changed.
What happens next
The receipt is on the ride under Activity, and in Inbox on the Account tab. The driver sees that the ride is paid, never your card or MMG details.
A ride billed to a company goes on the company's statement and is not charged to you.
