Invite a friend
Share your invite, when the credit lands, how long it lasts, and the rules that stop it being abused.
Invite someone who has never used GuyWay. When an invite offer is running, the screen states what you and your friend get.
Steps
- Open Invite a friend on the Account tab, or the Invite tile on Services.
- Tap Share your invite and send the message through any app.
- Or tap Copy link and paste it, or read out the code shown on the screen.
What your friend sees
The link opens a page with your name, the offer and your code, and a button to open GuyWay. When they sign in from the link, the code is applied for them. There is no field to type a code in the app, so they should sign in from your link.
When the credit arrives
Nothing lands at sign-up. The credit lands after your friend's first paid ride, usually within 30 days of signing up. A free or test ride does not count, and neither does a fare that could not be charged.
The credit is then held for a few days before you can spend it; the screen shows the amount on hold and when it is released. It is GuyWay Credit, and it lapses 90 days after it is earned.
The rules
- One reward for each new GuyWay account.
- You cannot invite yourself, or a number that has already ridden with GuyWay. An account created well before your link was opened does not count.
- There is a limit to the rewards one person can earn from an offer.
- GuyWay can take a reward back if an invite is not genuine, or if the ride it was earned on is refunded or charged back. Credit already spent is not taken off you.
What you see
Under Your invites: Earned, Signed up and No ride yet. You see numbers only, never who your friends are.
If something goes wrong
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Invites are not available right now | No invite offer is running | Try again later |
| Copying is blocked here | The phone refused the clipboard | Read out the code |
| My friend signed up and I got nothing | They have not taken a paid ride yet | They appear under No ride yet |
| The code did not apply | They signed in without opening the link | Ask GuyWay from Help. If they have already ridden, it is too late |
| The credit is there but I cannot spend it | It is still on hold | The screen shows when it is released |
