Documents you need

The documents GuyWay checks before you go online, how you send them, and what happens at expiry.

Audience: DriversSection: Driver-appUpdated: 2026-10-13Version: 3.1

GuyWay keeps a copy of each document on your driver record, with its expiry date where it has one. You cannot go online until every required document is on file and approved.

When GuyWay adds a new required document

A newly required document does not stop you on the day it is added. The Documents screen shows it as due by a date, 30 days ahead unless GuyWay sets another, and you can go online and take rides until then. From that date it is required like the others. If you already filed an earlier copy that has expired, the same wait applies. A document that must be in place at once, such as insurance or a legal requirement, is set up without the wait, and you cannot go online without it from the day it is added.

Where you find it

Open the Account tab and tap Documents. Home also shows Open documents when something is missing or about to expire. Each row shows the document, its state and, where it has one, its expiry date.

You send a document by scanning it in the app. Tap the row, photograph the document, check what the app read from it, and tap Everything is right, send it. See Renew a document for the steps.

Elements

DocumentWhenExpiry tracked
Driver's licenceBefore your first rideYes
Driver Vehicle Rental AgreementBefore your first ride, signed in the appNo
Platform Agency AgreementBefore your first ride, signed in the appNo
Hire car licenceWithin 60 daysYes
Police clearance certificateWithin 60 daysYes

For the hire car licence and the police clearance, open Documents and, under Not ready yet?, tap the document to provide it later. You can go online meanwhile, and the row shows the date it is due, 60 days ahead. You are reminded 7 days before. If it is still not sent by then, you cannot go online until it is approved.

You do not need to bring an insurer approval: GuyWay puts you on the insurer's register itself. Your agreements print your name, address and licence number from your driver's licence. GuyWay can add a document type; it then appears on the same screen.
